Nebraska Vietnam Vets Spend Day In Washington D.C.

It's a special day for hundreds of Nebraska Vietnam veterans.  They are part of the Honor Flight that left Omaha early Monday morning aboard four planes.

The veterans climbed onto buses outside the Embassy Suites in La Vista around 2:15 a.m. and headed to Eppley Airflield.  The planes took off just before 5:00 and all have now arrived in D.C.

It will be be a very busy day for the veterans as they visit the Vietnam Wall along with the Korea and Lincoln memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.

The public is encouraged to welcome them home when they return to the Lincoln Airport around 8:30 Monday night.

NewsRadio 1110 KFAB's Karla James made the trip and will have updates on air and on KFAB's Facebook page throughout the day.
