Omaha Police say a 32 year old man was killed in a fiery motorcycle crash Thursday night at 72nd and Hickory.
Investigators say that according to witnesses Thomas Coffman was riding his bike at speeds near 100-miles-per-hour on northbound 72nd Street. They say he tried to brake for stopped traffic as he came over a hill. But Coffman lost control and slid under an SUV. The gas tank of the motorcycle fueled the fire that followed.
Coffman was transported to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. Accident investigators shut down the intersection for several hours.
