Thursday morning a Lancaster County Judge struck down the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission's decision to deny liquor license renewals to four beer stores in Whiteclay, saying the decision was unreasonable.
The four stores sold approximately 3.5 million cans of beer in 2015, despite the town having less than ten residents.
Earlier this month the commission ruled that there was not enough law enforcement to handle the problems that come from the alcohol abuse in Whiteclay. The small town sits on the Nebraska/South Dakota border near the Pineridge Reservation, where alcohol is banned.
The stores can now apply for their renewals and the judge has ordered the commission to honor the applications once submitted.
