Douglas County Jail Inmate Dies After Struggle With Guard

A Douglas County Corrections inmate has died after getting into an altercation with jail staff Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say around 4:30 Steven Claycamp tried to leave a secured housing unit and was stopped by staff members.  A struggle ensued and additional staff responded and were able to get him under control.

Douglas County officials say after Claycamp was transferred to another secured unit, he continued to be combative with staff members.  Moments later, Claycamp suffered a medical emergency and CPR was initiated.

Claycamp was rushed to the hospital where he died.  The sheriff's office has opened an investigation. Claycamp had been in jail since April 23 for Terroristic Threats and Possession of a Controlled Substance
