City leaders unveiled their 2017 road resurfacing plan on Friday.
Mayor Jean Stothert along with other city officials revealed there would be 41 resurfacing projects for the year.
Stothert says the 41 projects will account for about 81 lane miles throughout the city, including major, residential and brick roads. "These projects include Lake Street from 24th to 40th. Pacific from 72nd to 78th. Martha Street from 10th to 16th."
Other major roadway repairs will be on sections of 40th, 50th and 60th Streets, North Skyline Drive in Elkhorn and two sections of Vinton from 13th to 24th Street and 31st to 41st street.
In total there will be 15 major streets, 26 residential and seven brick roads repaired under the plan.
Stothert says this year's resurfacing plan gets Omaha on the right path. "We're about 50 years behind where we should be with our road repair in Omaha. With this type commitment that we are making now, we will catch up."
The projects will cost an estimated $13 million for the major and residential road repairs, with bids also being put in to repair the brick roads.
Work is expected to begin in June, but there are no set dates for projects due to weather conditions.
