Diesel Fuel Leak Forces Lane Closures On I-80

A diesel fuel spill caused a big headache Tuesday afternoon.

It was reported that a diesel fuel tanker was leaking the flammable liquid from about 74th and Dodge all the way out to I-80 and Highway 50.

Evidence of the leak could be seen on I-80 through parts of Omaha and into Sarpy County. It appears the driver traveled westbound on I-80, then took the Highway 50 exit ramp, leaving the dangerous, slick trail behind him.

Law enforcement was able to stop the truck before it could travel any further.

The spill caused the right hand lane of I-80 westbound and and the Highway 50 ramp to close temporarily.

It's reported that about 150 gallons of fuel was spilled during the incident.

Crews are working to clean up the spill and all lanes of traffic and interstate ramps have been reopened.
