Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian W. Kruse predicts a voter turnout of 23 percentfor the 2017 City of Omaha Primary Election on April 4
Kruse says his prediction is somewhat higher than recent City of Omaha Primary elections. “I believe voters will be motivated to get out and vote for the strong slate of candidates for Mayor and City Council.”
The voter turnouts for previous City of Omaha primary elections were 25.5 percent in 2001, 16.6 percent in 2005, 19.2 percent in 2009, and 22.8 percent in 2013.
As of March 27, 2017, there were 281,615 City of Omaha residents registered to vote, including 114,672 Democrats, 98,577 Republicans, 3,297 Libertarians, and 65,069 Nonpartisan. A turnout of 23 percent would result in 64,771 votes cast.
