Teen Charged With Felony After Deadly Accident

A fifteen year old has been charged with a felony in connection to a crash that killed his passenger.

Omaha Police said Wednesday that they have booked Leonardo Regalado into the Douglas County Youth Center for Felony Motor Vehicle Homicide-Reckless Driving.

Regalado was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry when it struck a metal pole on Riverfront Drive near the CenturyLink Center just before 2:30 AM on March 18th.

Police say Regalado was speeding northbound when he lost control of the vehicle.

Regalado's backseat passenger, fourteen year old Kevin Ramirez-Cabrera, was transported to CHI Creighton University Medical Center with extremely critical injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Ramirez-Cabrera was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Both Regalado and the front seat passenger were wearing their seat belts and did not report any injuries.
