Man Arrested For Throwing Knives At Police Officer

A Council Bluffs man is in jail after Police say he threw two open pocket knives at an officer Friday night.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store near 28th and West Broadway around 5:30 p.m. .

Officers were called there on a report of an armed suspect damaging the store’s sign. A police officer approached the man, identified as 30 year old Matthew Swarbrick, who was carrying two open pocket knives.

Swarbrick is accused of threatening the officer and throwing both knives at him.  The officer quickly took cover and ordered Swarbrick to the ground. 

Swarbrick was then taken into custody and arrested for assault on a peace officer, going armed with intent, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and second-degree criminal mischief.

Swarbrick was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail.
