Woman's Carjacking Story Was Fabricated

It was a scary situation to imagine. Being carjacked at gunpoint, then when trying to flee from your abductor and being shot at.

That is what 26 year old Brittnie Holz told Council Bluffs Police had happened to her on March 7th. The only problem with her story? It was all made up.

On Thursday, Council Bluffs Police revealed that Holz's story was all fabricated and that she had never been carjacked or shot at.

Holz originally told police that she was at a Bucky's near 24th Street and I-80 when a man displayed a gun, got into the passenger side of her car and told her to drive.

She said the robber then told her to pull over so he could drive. When she pulled over Holz said she fled, running through an empty field nearby. It was reported that the suspect then chased her down with the car through the field, and possibly fired his handgun at her.

On Tuesday, March 14th, Holz came to the Council Bluffs Police Station to reveal that she knew the man, and there had been no robbery.

Holz was written a citation for Reporting False Information to Police and investigators closed the case.
