Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo gorilla baby has a name!On Thursday, zoo officials revealed that the baby boy western lowland gorilla would be called Kgosi.
The name was one of 825 names submitted.
The name Kgosi was submitted by thirteen year old Aven Cramer from Omaha. Zookeepers selected the name because of its meaning: "a king."
Little Kgosi was born on January 18th and is the baby of 21 year old Timu and 22 year old Tambo.
Timu has been at Henry Doorly Zoo since 1996. Kgosi is her fourth baby.
Dad, Tambo, has been at Omaha's zoo since 2001 and this is his first baby.
The naming campaign raised $297, which will be donated to Gorilla Fund International for conservation efforts. The largest threat to the critically endangered western lowland gorilla is the logging industry, which destroys their forest habitat.
