Bond Set For Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Boy

Bond was set at $250,000 today for a man accused of sexually assaulting a seven year old boy.

Omaha Police arrested 50 year old Bruce Perry on Wednesday after Westroads mall security said he sexually assaulted the boy in a bathroom.

Prosecutors say the seven year old and his eleven year old brother went into a bathroom and when they walked toward a stall Perry allegedly pulled down the seven year old's pants and underwear, then inappropriately touched him. They say the older boy fought Perry off of his brother.

Perry's defense says he has mental health issues and that he doesn't fully understand what is happening.

Prosecutors argue that he functions as an adult, is independent and that they don't think Perry's mental health should be part of the conversation.

They add that Perry did admit to the incident, and that he admitted to touching children in a similar manner before.

Perry is being charged with Third Degree Sexual Assault and Child Abuse by Intent-No Serious Injury.

A judge ordered Perry to have no contact with children if he is able to post bail.
