There is new life for the vacant Dana College campus in Blair. On Monday night Blair City officials announced Grace University will be moving from Omaha to Blair.
A representative for Grace University told WOWT 6 News they are in process of selling their Omaha campus in preparation for move to Blair's Dana campus.
The Dana campus has been closed since 2010 after an accreditation body refused to approve its sale to for-profit investors. Midland University in Fremont announced in 2013 plans to reopen the Blair campus, but dropped those plans last year.
The project is expected to cost about $46 million and will be covered by donors. The land is being donated by developer Frank Krejci.
Grace won't occupy the entire campus. There are also tentative plans to include a Lutheran Church, nursing facility and a movie studio and a multi generational community.
It would also house teens who outgrew the foster program, people who are mentally ill and veterans.
