The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a 29 year old man is behind bars in connection with the sexual assault of a hotel worker on Wednesday.
The incident happened at the Home 2 Hotel near 179th & Chicago Street in the early morning hours. Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning says the masked man walked into the hotel and waited in a hallway for a female employee.
As she walked by, the man groped her in a sexual manner and tried to force her into a restroom. Dunning says the brave victim fought with the man and pulled his mask off of his face. He then fled the building. But moments later as the woman was making a call to 911, the man returned and grabbed the mask from the woman before making a second exit.
Dunning says surveillance video captured a clear image of the maskless man. They were able to track down Zachary Person to his mother's home in Norfolk. Person is a lifetime sex offender and was also wanted for similar crimes in Norfolk and Sioux City. He was awaiting sentencing in a fourth case in South Dakota.
