Former Creighton basketball player Maurice Watson made his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
A judge set bond for Watson at $750,000, he will need to put up ten percent of that to be released.
Watson is accused of sexually assaulting a nineteen year old woman in early February.
In addition to the bond, the judge also ordered Watson to not have any contact with the victim in the case.
In court Monday, the defense said that Watson and the victim had consensual sexual relations before this incident and that the victim brought him into the room alone that night.
The prosecution fired back saying that the victim was distraught after being in the room with Watson alone and that witnesses say they saw blood on the floor and on the victim's legs after the incident.
They added that doctors examined the woman and said the evidence showed sexual assault.
The court is looking at the possibility of monitoring Watson by GPS if he makes bond so he can return to Philadelphia to continue his physical therapy.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that they have concerns about letting him return to Philadelphia. "If he's in Pennsylvania, we don't have jurisdiction in Pennsylvania. If he didn't show up, it's quite a ways away, there's a lot of issues with regard to getting him back here, as there was when there was a felony warrant was issued for him in the first place."
Watson turned himself in to police Sunday afternoon after a three day trip from Philadelphia, but not before Omaha Police said Watson was "dodging" law enforcement.
Watson's lawyer Stu Dornan says he needs to return to Philadelphia to continue rehabbing his knee, or risk permanent damage, but Kleine says Watson doesn't need to leave the state for treatment. "There are other people at Douglas County Corrections that have medical problems or medical issues, and they're taken care of in an appropriate manner."
A preliminary hearing is set for March 27th.
