Omaha Police say Creighton basketball star Maurice Watson Jr. turned himself in Sunday afternoon. Watson is charged with first degree sexual assault. His surrender came after the U.S. Marshals Service and the Omaha Police Fugitive Unit said Watson was “dodging” law enforcement.
According to Watson's attorney, Mallory Hughes, he was driving back from Philadelphia at the time and was not trying to avoid law enforcement. He turned himself in at Central Police Headquarters around 3:45
He was transported to the Douglas County Department of Corrections and booked for 1st-degree sexual assault. Hughes says she hopes to have a bail hearing Monday afternoon.
A 19 year old woman claims Watson had non-consensual sex with her in the bathroom of a house early on the morning of Feb. 4th. The woman went to the hospital where police contacted her.
