Watson's Attorneys Say Sex Assault Allegations False

Attorneys for Creighton basketball standout Maurice Watson say he is returning to Omaha to turn himself in.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Watson after claims that he sexually assaulted a woman.

According to a police report, officers were called to a hospital around 10:30 in the morning on February 4th. A 19 year old woman reported that a man had non-consensual sex with her in the bathroom of a home.

Police say that the man is Watson.

Watson's lawyer Stu Dornan says that he and Watson were surprised when Omaha Police issued the warrant. "I've had contact with law enforcement and told them, directly, a week ago that if they were going to obtain an arrest warrant, to tell me so that I could have Mr. Watson turn himself in."

He has been in Philadelphia rehabilitating his knee after an ACL injury sidelined him in January.

Dornan says when Watson does turn himself, he hopes a reasonable bond is set. "These are only allegations, he's presumed innocent. He has ties to the community. He's a student at school. He's been aware of this investigation. So there's no risk of flight."
