Truck Hits School Bus In Sidney, IA

A school bus crash in Sidney, Iowa Wednesday morning has sent one student to the hospital.

Sidney Schools Superintendent Gregg Cruickshank says a school bus, with seven students on board, was leaving the Sidney Junior-Senior High School just before 8:30 to take kids to a vocational workshop in Sidney.

Cruickshank says as the bus was driving over a small hill when a truck driven by a student at the school hit the bus head on. "Apparently there was a student westbound, heading to school at that time, and somewhere in that area the student crossed the center line and struck the bus."

He says the student was taken to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha by medical helicopter for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

Two students on the bus, and the bus driver, were taken to local hospitals as a precaution.
