A Monday morning crash near Fremont has claimed the life of a 23-year-old man. The Dodge County Sheriff's Department says the man was westbound on West 23rd Street at Highway 30 when he pulled away from a stop sign and entered the northbound lane of the highway.
The Monte Carlo LS was hit by a Peterbilt tractor-trailer. The driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 62 year old Louis Dohmen of Columbus, was treated and released from the Fremont Hospital. The Dodge County Sheriff's Department says Dohmen was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
