Omaha police released the names of two of the three suspects involved in a shooting around 1:00 p.m. Friday at 42nd and Redick Avenue and then leading officers on a chase. The victim, 21 year old Kendall Williams was driven to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle near 50th and Ames Avenue with three males inside. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and went as far as 72nd Street before heading east along Sorenson Parkway. Speeds reached up to 65 mph and the police helicopter, Able 1 was called to assist in tracking the fleeing vehicle that stopped in the area of 42nd and Vernon Avenue. At that time all three suspects ran from the vehicle in different directions. Police swarmed the area and brought in a police dog to help in the search. All three were arrested and one suspect was treated for injuries from the police dog. The vehicle had been reported stolen.
The suspects are identified as 17 year old Tyson Hurst who was booked as an adult for felony assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, shooting from a vehicle, minor in possession of a firearm, obstructing and for unrelated warrants.
14 year old Lavell Piggie was booked as an adult for accessory to a felony, obstructing, felony flight to avoid arrest, theft unlawful taking and willful reckless driving.
The third suspect is a juvenile and no further information will be released regarding this person.
