Damage is estimated at $70-thousand after an overnight fire destroyed two garages and three cars.
The fire broke out around midnight in a three car detatched garage near 60th and Maple. The garage was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire spread to a second garage next door and caused some heat damage to a neighboring church.
Harold Deveney owns the second garage and called 911 after hearing some small explosions and seeing the intense flames. "I woke up and, I don't know if was paint cans blowing up or something it was poof, poof, poof."
Deveney credits firefighters from preventing the flames from damaging his and his neighbors house.
injuries were reported at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this
time.
