Two People In Custody After Wild Afternoon Ride

Two people are in custody Wednesday afternoon after attempting to flee from police.

The suspects fled after officers started following the stolen vehicle they were in near 38th and Cuming Street.

The Omaha Police helicopter, ABLE1, was then sent in to action to follow the pair as they fled from Omaha, into Council Bluffs and back.

The suspects went East on Cuming to I-480 South before getting off on L Street going East into Council Bluffs.

The pair then came back into Omaha on westbound I-80, reportedly reaching speeds of 110-120 mph.

They zipped through the neighborhoods west of 42nd near Grover before finally being stopped by police in the parking lot of the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging.

Both suspects attempted to run from the scene on foot but were arrested by police shortly after.

While trying to flee, the crooks forgot to put the vehicle in park and it rolled backwards into the ENOA building, knocking down a sign.

The pursuit lasted for about 30 minutes.

Police believe the male suspect is the same man that caused a lock down at UNMC Tuesday night.
