An Omaha man will live out the rest of his days in prison.
Dontevous Loyd was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend and her daughter.
Loyd had previously pleaded guilty to Use of a Weapon and two charges of First Degree Murder after shooting Destacia Straughn and her two year old daughter Kenacia in their home in December 2015.
Straughn's mother spoke emotionally in court Wednesday saying, "I consider this man a monster. When you shoot a two year old baby, execution style in the head. I am not a court of law but I pray he never sees the light of day."
Loyd had also pleaded guilty to charges of Attempted Murder after three other women were injured in the gunfire.
He told prosecutors if they took the option of the death penalty off the table, he would plead guilty.
After speaking with the victims' family, prosecutors agreed to accept his plea and propose life in prison.
