Bellevue Police Officer Shoots Dog

Bellevue Police say an officer shot and killed an aggressive dog Friday afternoon.

Officials say children in the neighborhood near 25th and Sarpy avenues had reported an aggressive dog loose on their street.

As the officer approached the German Shepard, police say the dog snarled and barked as they tried to back away from the animal, but it moved towards the officer.

That is when authorities say the officer shot and killed the dog.

The dog's owner, 22 year old Matthew Kemp, informed police that the dog was not licensed and did not have its vaccinations. He was written a citation for dog at large and dangerous dog.
