A Tecumseh corrections officer is recovering after being attacked by an inmate Wednesday night.
Nebraska Department of Correctional Services authorities say the inmate hit the staff member once in the head with a homemade weapon around 6:00.
They say other staff members in the housing unit were able to stop the inmate by using physical force to subdue him.
The corrections officer suffered a non-life threatening injury, was treated and released.
The names of the staff member or inmate will be released.
An investigation will be conducted and the findings will be turned over to the Johnson County Attorney.
