STUDY: WEED USERS MORE LIKELY TO DEVELOP HEART DISEASE
People who use marijuana are a third more likely to have heart disease, a Stanford University study of over 175,000 people found.
The more someone used cannabis, the higher the risk. Daily users were 34% more likely to be diagnosed with coronary artery disease than a non-user.
Marijuana use can cause a faster heartbeat and a rise in blood pressure, which may be contributing factors. This study's results seem to contradict the common notion that marijuana is a safe drug.
"There are probably certain harms of cannabis use that weren’t recognized before, and people should take that into account," Dr. Ishan Paranjpe said.
