Slate helps us cope with the passing of Charles Grodin today with THIS PIECE on their species-bending love story.
I'm also laughing today remembering the ongoing bit Grodin had whenever he did Letterman's show -- pretending there was nowhere else in the world he would rather NOT be than doing Dave's show:
I highly recommend Grodin's autobiography, It Would Be So Nice If You Weren't Here. He was sensational in Midnight Run, The Heartbreak Kid, and even this great cameo in So I Married an Axe Murderer.
Charles Grodin was 86.
