Omaha Business Owner Starts Petition to Repeal Mask Mandate

From the inbox this morning:

I have started a petition to repeal the Omaha Mask Mandate. I run a local small business that has thousands of customers come through each week and we have not worn masks since the whole “Pandemic” started. We have not had a single employee test positive for the virus in over 5 months with no masks and 10s of thousands of customers coming through our establishment during those 5 months. We have over 30 employees and not a single one has contracted the virus.

I am more than willing to fight for the rights of our freedom and I hope this is one way I can do that.

It would be awesome if you guys could share the petition if it is something you believe in. I am 30 years old and I love all of your radio shows. I have been a long time listener to you guys. Keep up the good work!!!

My thoughts: I'm willing to give a unanimous city council vote the 30 days they're asking for. People aren't clamoring to see my entire face anyway, and never have been. My sincere question to our elected leaders, though, is "What benchmark needs to be achieved to let the mandate lapse? Is it not overwhelming the health care system, which is not currently anywhere close to being overwhelmed? Is it not having a spike in positive cases, which we had in June and aren't seeing now? If masks reduce the spread to a very, very low chance, why aren't my kids in school? If this is the environment that got us in to the mandate, what in the world gets us out?"
