'Cops' Canceled Amid Protests in Wake of George Floyd's Death

The long-running TV show Cops has been canceled amid the protests over race-driven police brutality that have been ongoing in the wake of George Floyd's death.

After pulling Cops from its schedule last week, the Paramount Network announced its cancellation yesterday, saying, "Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return."

Cops and other shows featuring real police at work, such as A&E's Live PD, have come under new scrutiny since Floyd's death and the following protests. Season 33 of Cops was supposed to have debuted this past Monday.

The show premiered in 1989 on Fox and was on the network for 25 seasons. It moved to Spike, which relaunched as the Paramount Network in 2018.
