FRONTRUNNER BIDEN TARGETED IN SECOND NIGHT OF DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY DEBATES
Frontrunner Joe Biden found himself under fire as the second 10 of the 20 Democratic presidential candidates who qualified for the first round of the primary debates faced off in Miami Thursday night (June 27th), one night after the first 10 who'd been randomly selected debated on the same stage. But last night had four of the five top-polling candidates, and some more elbows were thrown, particularly at the former vice president.
Most memorably, California Senator Kamala Harris, the only black woman in the race, criticized Biden for recently speaking about having decades ago worked with two segregationist senators, and for having been opposed to busing in the 1970s. Biden also mixed it up a bit with Colorado Senator Michael Bennet and Rep. Eric Swalwell of California, who's in his late 30s, repeatedly said it was time for a new generation, citing the 76-year-old Biden having said decades ago when he was a young lawmaker that it was time to pass the torch -- which turned into a humorous moment as it drew a wry smile form Biden.
Biden for his part, kept his fire trained on President Trump.
