Here's the Place Where It's Illegal to Die

THERE'S A REMOTE NORWEGIAN TOWN WHERE YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE

If you're planning to die, don't go to the town Longyearbyen, located in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard about halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. It's actually been illegal to die there since 1950 when locals discovered that bodies weren't decomposing in the cemetery because of the frigid weather.

The threat of disease spreading from the bodies are what drove the law to be passed. So if you want to be buried there, you'll have to be cremated first.

They're so serious about their law that they'll send the terminally ill to the mainland to spend their last days.
