(Council Bluffs, IA) -- An arrest is made in connection to a fatal Council Bluffs motorcycle crash.

The Council Bluffs Police Department says just after 2:00 the morning of February 16th, 29 year old Caleb Jefferson Bartels was driving a 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle on northbound I-29 with 33 year old Tomorrow Riley riding on the back. Investigators say Bartels lost control of the motorcycle, left the roadway and went into a ditch, throwing him and Riley from the bike. Riley died from her injuries, while Bartels was taken to Nebraska Medicine for treatment.

CBPD says both alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash. Bartels is currently being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail with a bond of $50,000 on charges of Homicide by Motor Vehicle-while under the influence, Failure to Maintain Control, and Operation Without a License. His next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 14th.
