(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha's City Council approves the city's plan to tear down the W. Dale Clark Library in downtown to make way for a new skyscraper.

After about two hours of discussion during Tuesdays meeting, the Omaha City Council voted 4-3 to lease the property at 14th and Jones to move the downtown library. The council then voted 5-2 to approve the lease for the old Shopko location at 84th and Frederick streets. The vote clears another hurdle for Mutual of Omaha in their process of building a new skyscraper headquarters on the site of the W. Dale Clark Library.

Council members voting in favor of the 14th and Jones proposal were Pete Festersen, Brinker Harding, Aimee Melton and Mike Rowe.
