(Bennington, NE) -- The City of Bennington hires its first ever full-time firefighters.
Until this year, the fire department has been fully volunteer-run since it was founded in 1962. A full-time chief and assistant chief were hired in July.
The nine new firefighters will be sworn in at a badge-pinning ceremony this Thursday at the Bennington Fire Station. They will be supported during their shifts by current volunteer staff.
