Ground is now broken on a new 45-thousand square foot expansion of the iconic art museum at 24th and Dodge Streets in Omaha.
Plans for the multi-million dollar "Rhonda and Howard Hawks Pavilion," honoring the two Omaha philanthropists, which will include day-lit galleries, have been in the works since 2018. Construction will force a temporary closure of the museum starting next year.
The addition is scheduled to open in 2024.
There will also be outdoor art experiences and a new public drive and entrance.
