Heat Wave To Reach A Peak Wednesday

The Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday for portions of East Central and Northeast Nebraska, and Southwest and West Central Iowa.

The Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area is included;

The National Weather Service says dangerous heat will continue into Thursday. Expect afternoon heat indices to reach 105 to 110 degrees across the entire area Wednesday and mainly south of I-80 on Thursday.

WOWT 6 News' Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord says Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week making a run at 100 degrees.

He says "feels like" temperatures likely top out in the 104 to 108 degree range.

Rusty say heat and humidity will still be in place Thursday, but it should start to improve late in the day thanks to a passing cold front.

It will still be in the mid '90's with heat index values up into the triple digits by mid afternoon Thursday.

Then cooler air and a few spotty storms will move in bringing some relief.
