Omaha Police say one person was killed and two others were injured, including one police say suffered an amputated leg injury, in a one vehicle crash around eight Sunday evening at 31st and Ames Avenue.
Accident investigators say the driver of a Chevy Malibu, 24-year old Akyma McWIlliams of Omaha, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, 24-year old Nairobi Ford of Omaha lost the leg and is also being treated for lacerations, while another passenger, 22-year old Samuel Yata, was treated for cuts.
Police say the Chevy was eastbound on Ames when it swerved left, crossing into the westbound lanes at the 31 Street intersection before leaving the roadway and striking a traffic signal pole.
