(Bellevue, NE) -- The Bellevue Police Department is announcing the addition of a new 'pawfficer.'

Bellevue Police say Mo is an eight-week-old Goldendoodle who is currently in training to become a certified therapy dog. BPD says following completion of his training, Mo will be available to offer emotional support to both officers and residents during traumatic events, interviews, and community outreach events.

BPD say Mo is named after Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Will Moden who was killed on June 14, 2019 while investigating a crash on Interstate 70 near Deer Trail, Colorado. Bellevue Police say Moden was a dog lover and loved helping people.

Mo was donated to the Bellevue Police Department my Omaha-based company Midwest Puppy, LLC. BPD says the Bellevue Walmart donated funds which will help cover expenses for training, equipment and food.

The police department says they are excited to have Mo as a new member of their police family.
