(Sarpy County, NE) -- The initial court appearance for a Bellevue man accused in the deaths of his two children is delayed by a day.
35 year old Adam Price was slated to appear in court Monday afternoon following his arrest Sunday night in Pacifica, California. Court records show that now, both his initial appearance and extradition hearing are expected to happen Tuesday.
Bellevue Police confirmed on Monday that they are investigating the deaths of 3 year old Theodore and 5 year old Emily as homicides. The Sarpy County Attorney’s office said Price will face two counts of felony child abuse resulting in death. Autopsies were performed on the children Monday morning.
Bellevue detectives are planning to travel to California to speak with Price, who is being held at Maguire Correctional Facility south of San Francisco.
Court records indicated that Price and Mary Nielsen, mother of the children, filed for divorce in December. Both sides had been arguing over custody, with joint custody awarded by a judge — requiring either parent to allow contact with the kids while in the care of the other. When Nielsen, who lives in Illinois, couldn’t get in touch with them this weekend, she began contacting police.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help with expenses.
