Man faces more charges after giving fake name during arrest

(Omaha, NE) -- An Iowa man arrested in Omaha following a high speed pursuit is facing more charges after investigators say he gave a fake name during his arrest.

The Nebraska State Patrol says they've added additional charges against 43 year old Jeremy Binns, who investigators say led law enforcement on a West Omaha pursuit on April 15th.

NSP says they received information that Binns provided a false identity throughout the process of apprehension, treatment for minor injuries at the hospital, and booking at the Douglas County Jail. Investigators say Binns had provided false information, identifying himself as 42 year old Devlin Phillips, of Omaha, due to a physical resemblance between he and Phillips. The state patrol says Devlin Phillips is not involved in this case.

The state patrol says at the direction of the Douglas County Attorney’s Office, troopers have added charges of criminal impersonation, obstruction, and providing false information. Binns also faces charges of willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, possession of methamphetamine, driving during revocation, and no valid registration in connection with Wednesday night’s pursuit and arrest. Binns also has a warrant for his arrest out of Iowa.
