(Undated) -- Two Omaha metro area health departments are opening up COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to those 55 and older this week.
The Douglas County and Sarpy/Cass health departments say as of Thursday morning, those born in 1966 or earlier will be able to get signed up for a COVID shot.
Douglas County residents can sign up through the DCHD website here. The health department says anyone needing help can call their Information line at (402) 444-3400. Residents in the Sarpy/Cass health district can visit www.sarpycasshealthdepartment.org/myturn to see a full list of clinic locations.
The two health districts are also partnering with Community Pharmacy to host another joint mass vaccination clinic on Sunday, March 28th. Sunday's clinic is to get the first dose, another clinic will be held on Sunday, April 18th to get the second dose.
This weekend's vaccination clinic is for individuals 55 years of age and older. It will be held at the Embassy Suites LaVista Conference Center, located at 12520 Westport Parkway.
Registration opens no later than 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, and closes at noon on Saturday, March 27. To register, click here. Appointments are first come, first served and you may choose your appointment time when you register. That time also will be reserved for the second-dose clinic on April 18.
There is no cost to attend this clinic, but you will be asked for a copy of your insurance card if you have one. The clinic will use the Pfizer vaccine. A vaccination card will be provided at Sunday’s clinic. You will need to bring that card to the second clinic, as the clinic will not provide second doses to anyone who previously received a first dose at another clinic.
