(Pottawattamie County, IA) -- Three COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Pottawattamie County announced on Wednesday were all filled up by Thursday morning.
Pottawattamie County Public Health said as of 10:00 Thursday morning, their COVID-19 vaccine clinic appointments are full. In less than 24 hours, the three vaccine clinics, for residents 65 and older, had all 3,300 COVID-19 vaccine appointments filled.
“We did the best we could to create a simple registration process. Despite the initial influx that bogged the system and the phone lines temporarily, 3,300 individuals registered for a vaccine in less than 24 hours,” said Matt Wyant with Pottawattamie County Public Health. “We hope to receive more vaccine in March so we can offer another set of clinics.”
In March, The State of Iowa will reevaluate the allocations to counties in Iowa. According to the State’s dashboard, 6,909 Pottawattamie County Residents have received the first dose of vaccine, and 4,489 have received the second dose. In Iowa, 182,642 individuals have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 99,978 have received the second dose.
PCPH says over 30,000 Pottawattamie county residents meet the requirements for phase 1B and that demand for the COVID-19 vaccine still exceeds their supply.
