Woman arrested for murder last week faces additional murder charge

(Omaha, NE) -- A woman already behind bars for murder is now facing an additional murder charge.

On Friday, Omaha Police announced that 37 year old Autum Acacia-Cortes was charged with a second count of First Degree Murder for the death of 53 year old Francisco Santiago. Santiago has been positively identified as the body found at the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Social Hall near 23rd and O Streets Wednesday morning. Officer had been called to the property for a well being check and found Santiago dead.

Police had been on the lookout for Santiago since the murder of 58 year old Jose Martinez at Highland Tower near 25th and B streets last week. Officers had been dispatched to the public housing apartments on Wednesday January 20th for another well being call where Martinez was found dead. OPD says they were worried about Santiago's safety following Martinez's death. Santiago was found dead exactly one week later.

Acacia-Cortes is now facing two charges of First Degree Murder for the deaths of Martinez and Santiago.
