A man wanted for an Omaha murder is dead following an attempted arrest in Atlanta, Georgia.
Omaha Police say the United States Marshall Service in Omaha confirmed that 18 year old Jaquan Haynes was shot and killed by law enforcement while they were attempting to serve a murder warrant on Tuesday. Investigators say while serving the warrant at a home in Atlanta, gunfire was exchanged between law enforcement and Haynes, who was struck and killed.
Haynes was wanted in connection to the murder of 19 year old Nomi Herrera. On October 29, Omaha Police were called to the area of 33rd and Weber for a personal injury accident. When officers got to the scene, they found Herrera suffering from a gunshot wound behind the wheel of the vehicle. Herrera succumbed to her injuries on October 30th.
On November 6th, Omaha Police said they arrested a 15 year old girl for accessory to first-degree murder in connection to Herrera's death. An arrest warrant was issued for Jaquan Haynes the same day.
