Douglas County Health Department release Halloween risk chart

The Douglas County Health Department is putting out recommendations for a safe Halloween amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

DCHD says although holidays have been a bit different this year, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate while staying safe. The Health Department is offering some ideas to help families decide how to approach Halloween.

Low Risk

  • A scavenger hunt-style trick-or-treat search at home with your household members
  • A Halloween scavenger hunt outdoors with kids searching for Halloween items at a distance

Moderate Risk:

  • One-way trick-or-treating where individually wrapped goody bags are left out for families to grab while keeping social distance.
    • When preparing goodie bag, wash your hands before and after making the bags

High Risk:

  • Visiting a crowded haunted house
  • Participating in traditional door-to-door treat-or-treating
  • Having trunk-or-treat where candy is given out from cars lined up in parking lots
