State Patrol Investigates Assault At Nebraska Correctional Institution

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports an inmate at the Lincoln Correctional Center was hospitalized with serious injuries after being assaulted by another inmate inside the facility’s wood shop.

Corrections says the injured inmate was attacked from behind and struck several times in the head with a large metal bar clamp.

He was also stabbed repeatedly with a screwdriver.

Staff members quickly moved in and restrained the armed inmate.

Based on initial reports, the injured inmate had head injuries, puncture wounds and potential broken bones.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the assault.
