Lydia House halts new intakes after staff, family test positive for COVID

The Lydia House is temporarily suspending new intakes and isn't currently letting volunteers or visitors in the facility following a small outbreak of COVID-19.

A Friday media release from the Open Door Missions states that four staff members and a family of four at the Mission’s Lydia House have tested positive for COVID-19. Another staff member is awaiting test results. “We have been diligent in following the CDC guidelines with handwashing, cleaning and mask-wearing, but unfortunately we have positive cases in Lydia House,” said Candace Gregory, president and CEO of Open Door Mission, in a news release Friday. “For the safety of our staff, guests, and volunteers, we are closing to new guests and will refer people who need help to other facilities and resources. We would appreciate prayers for all the ladies and families staying at Lydia House, who are already going through a challenging time, and for our staff on the front lines.”

According to the release, volunteers will be allowed to return to the facility at 2309 N. 20th St. on September 8th. Staff will contact volunteers to get them rescheduled.
