Omaha Public Schools Announces Changes In Remote Learning

Omaha Public Schools is making some remote learning changes for students in kindergarten, first and second grade.

The district sent an email to families saying students will now be asked to be online for roughly half the day and that more frequent and longer breaks will be built into the day.

That will cut down on the amount of time kids spend looking at their iPad screens. The district also said those younger students will also get at least 20-30 minutes of one-on-one instructional support every week.

"We believe this adjusted schedule prioritizes instructional time while accounting for less screen time and allowing for necessary breaks for younger students."
