Lincoln Police investigating after Molotov cocktails thrown at houses

The search is on for whoever threw Molotov cocktails at houses in Lincoln early Thursday morning.

Lincoln Police say around 9:00 Thursday morning, officers were called to the 1700 block of N 32nd Street for a report that Molotov cocktails had been thrown at a house. Police say when officers arrived they spoke with a 33 year old man who told them that around 2:30 that morning, someone threw Molotov cocktails at his house and his neighbor’s house.

Investigators say officers then spoke with the neighbor who reported that her fifteen year old son was in the living room at the time, heard a loud bang and looked out to see the front porch was on fire. The neighbor reported that they were able to put the fire out themselves, but there was damage to the porch and a baby bouncer. Investigators say there were also a few burn marks in the grass from where the bottle landed in the 33 year old male’s yard. Police say the damage is estimated at about $75.

LPD says officers canvassed the area, processed the scene for evidence and are requesting video from neighbors in the area. Investigators say it appears to be a targeted incident to only one of the homes.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
