Woman shot and killed while riding on Lincoln city bus

Lincoln Police say a woman who was riding on a Lincoln city bus Thursday afternoon was shot and killed.

Police say just after 2:30 Thursday afternoon, officers were called out for a reported shooting on A Street between South 17th and South 27th Street. Investigators say a woman, and sole passenger of a City of Lincoln bus that was traveling eastbound, was shot. The woman was transported to a local hospital by Lincoln Fire and Rescue where she was pronounced deceased.

LPD says the preliminary investigation shows that the bus was in motion when a bullet entered the driver’s side of the bus, hitting the woman where she was seated. Investigators are working to notify family members, canvassing the area for witnesses, and searching for digital and forensic evidence.
